Back in June, Chad and I remodeled my parents basement bedrooms. This first room was covered in brown paneling. And it had that cottage cheese ceiling. Ugh! It was the room that took us the longest. We of course scraped all the ceiling off, and tore down all the paneling. Their wasn’t any sheet rock behind the paneling, so we had to put it up, and texture. Chad put this wainscot (sp) up and I gathered photos, frames and stuff from moms storage and put it all together on the wall. This room is called Grandma’s room.
This next room just needed some holes patched, some fresh paint and of course decoration. It is actually the same yellow paint that we used in Grandma’s room. This is Grandpa’s room. There are photos of dad, his brother, sister, and his parents, things that he or mom has made, and his old gun and arrows. My dad even made those wagon wheels used for the head board. And just so ya know….This blanket, which my mom made…….. which is so beautiful…..which I LOVE…(hint, hint) …..….is going to be mine someday! (maybe if only in my dreams)
This room I call the world room. It is still not quite finished. In this room are things that have been brought back from a distant place from a family member. From Alaska, Tonga, Surinam, and Japan. And hopefully soon, it will have Mexico and Greece in there.
I wish I would have gotten before photos, so you can see the difference. But I think the rooms all turned out really good.
